| Customer Reviews: After fixing the auto reverse problem it works fine. July 25, 2010 Mike I had the problem where the tape would get ejected after being inserted. This wouldn't happen all the time but enough to be annoying. So I finally got around to taking it apart like one of the other reviewers said to do. I didn't exactly follow their instructions because they were unclear to me.
Instead when I took the adapter apart I ended up just taking out the entire guide part in the lower right hand corner. Just pull up on it to get it out. Also take the gear out that is under it. That is all I did and then put it back together and it worked fine.
It works fine now but it gets three stars because I had this trouble with it.
Poor Quality - Can't take the heat July 22, 2010 G.A. Arboleda This product performed very well when I first opened it and began using it. But less than a week after I received it, it stopped working properly. The sound quality was completely out of whack, as though the internal equalizer was shot. Only one instrument in a song's mix would be audible and the others would fade into the background. It made the music completely un-listenable. Granted this is July and the inside of my car was probably over 100 degrees for most of those days, it was still permanently damaged after only 5 days!
The instructions told me not to leave my device in the cassette player while it was not in use so I removed it and left it either in the glove compartment or in between the two front seats. My friends who have similar products always leave theirs in the player and haven't had any problems. Maybe the instructions are flawed and that led to its downfall. Either way, I don't recommend this as a summer buy.
Do not buy - breaks first day July 20, 2010 Bobo (san francisco) This thing broke the first day. After testing it once, taking it out, putting it back in, and playing again, it only plays on half the speakers in my japanese car. It's only 9 bucks, so not really worth returning. It's crap.
Not a good item. July 14, 2010 Michael C. Larkin (Flower Mound, Tx) It worked for a while then started having problems in my auto reverse tape player. It kept wanting to stop and turn the tape over. Very annoying.
Works Perfectly, with Just a Little Sound Degredation. July 5, 2010 Sloper Dude (L'Étoile du Nord) I've been using my Coby cassette adapter for about six months, without a hitch. I'd buy a new car stereo, but my car isn't very new and it's one of those large double-DIN models, limiting my choices of replacement radios by quite a lot.
There's some sound degredation, but it's not bad. Besides, most people are willing to put up with playing MP3 files, which have already degraded the sound. I play slightly better WMA files, and plan to upgrade to playing even better Ogg Vorbis files when I get the new SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 8 GB MP3 Player (Black) MP3 player I bought from Amazon.com.
If you want perfection you have to pay for it, and the Coby cassette adapter is a cheap way to meet my needs for the time being.
